MC Planners is a boutique town planning consultancy based in Hobart, Tasmania. We specialise in providing customised planning solutions to our clients throughout the State. Our team of experienced planning consultants are committed to providing a high level of service utilising our relationships and knowledge within the industry.
We offer a wide range of town planning services, including due diligence assessments, strategic advice, development applications, planning scheme amendments, environmental assessments and planning appeal representation.

MAT CLARK
MANAGING DIRECTOR / PRINCIPAL PLANNER
Mat was formally Principal and Planning Group Manager at JMG before launching MC Planners in 2023.
Mat has over twenty years’ experience in strategic and statutory planning and is an industry leader in residential master planning and environmental impact assessment. Mat has a strong and current working knowledge of the Tasmanian planning legislation and case law and has appeared regularly before the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT) and the Tasmanian Planning Commission (TPC) as an expert witness.
Mat is a former president and current executive committee member of the Property Council of Australia (Tasmania) and a former president of the Planning Institute of Australia (Tasmania).
Significant projects Mat has worked on include the Northern Tasmania Regional Land Use Strategy, Northern Midlands Land Use and Development Strategy, Oatlands Structure Plan, Hobart International Airport Land Use Strategy and the Royal Hobart Showgrounds Masterplan.
As Senior Planner, Mat manages a small team of planners operating state wide, which consults to State Government, Local Government, Government Business Enterprises, private developers and Not-for-profit organisations.
